Unit of Study:

*Readers are Resourceful: Tackling Hard Words and Tricky Parts in Books

In these units, readers will learn that careful readers use everything at their disposal to figure out the hard and tricky parts in their texts

Readers will:
• Use word solving strategies to include meaning cues and syntax/structure cues.
• Transfer known strategies from one tricky word to the next and across text.
• Learn many ways to reread independently and in partnership.

Writing

Unit of Study:

*Writing to Craft Stories for Readers. Writers will use what they know as readers to write well! connect reading and writing by using mentor texts to write like a writer; invent new fiction stories and create their own characters.

*Geometry and Position – Identify and Describe Three-Dimensional Shapes. -Identify, name and, describe attributes of spheres, cubes, cylinders and cones;
*Measurement and Data –Compare lengths, heights, and weight;
*Classify and Sort Data – By color, shape, and size;
*Getting Ready for Grade 1 – Review Projects

*Improving Yourself Continually Using Emotional Positive Actions. Students will set physical, intellectual, and emotional goals as positive actions to achieve self-improvement

*Positive Action Review Students will review positive actions learned in the Land of Physical, Land of Intellectual, Jungle Of Self-Management, Getting Along with Others, and Self-Honesty.
