Arrival begins at 8:00am, therefore we encourage all families to report 5-10 minutes early. Teachers will enter the building promptly at 8:00am
Dismissal Ends at the above times depending on the grade. Therefore, we encourage all families to come for dismissal 5- 10 minutes early. Teachers will enter the building promptly at 2:20pm and will escort all students for late pick up in the auditorium.
All arrivals will be held in the locations specified above except for days where there is precipitation between 7:30 am - 8 am.
On rainy and snowy days, there will be an INCLEMENT WEATHER INDOOR ARRIVAL. In the event of SEVERE LIGHTNING AND THUNDER at dismissal, the emergency procedures specified below will be utilized.
Below you will find arrival procedures for NORMAL DAYS & INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS & EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR SEVERE LIGHTNING AND THUNDER AT DISMISSAL.
NORMAL ARRIVAL DAYS
- Pre-Kindergarten enters the building through the Rotunda. Students go straight to their classroom.
- Kindergarten through third grade line up at their arrival spots.
- 4th & 5th grade students line up on Russell Place by the blue mailbox.
- Teachers pick up the students promptly at 8:00 am.
- Classes enter the building through assigned entrances.
- Staff members are posted at the doors to ensure a safe arrival. Only staff and students can enter through the doors.
INCLEMENT WEATHER INDOOR ARRIVAL (Precipitation between 7:30 - 8:00 am)
- Doors open at 8:00 am (Earlier if all staff is at their post)
- Kindergarten through third grade enter through the gymnasium doors (Exit 7) or the corner doors in the schoolyard (Exit 5). Staff members will be posted at those doors.
- All K-3 students report directly to the gymnasium to meet their teachers.
- 4th and 5th grade students enter through the Russell Place entrance near the blue mailbox.
- All 4th and 5th grade students walk directly to class and teachers will meet them at the classroom door.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR SEVERE LIGHTNING & THUNDERSTORMS AT DISMISSAL
PLEASE NOTE: These procedures apply EXCLUSIVELY to SEVERE LIGHTNING and THUNDERSTORM. In the event of heavy rain, students will be brought to their lineup spots and dismissed as per usual.
During a SEVERE LIGHTNING & THUNDERSTORM weather event at dismissal, the following plan of action will be followed:
- An announcement will be made in the school building alerting staff and students to the change in dismissal procedure and requesting that all students enrolled in afterschool be sent to the auditorium.
- A BEE Informed email and text messages will go out to families alerting them to the change in dismissal procedures.
- Students NOT enrolled in an afterschool program - INCLUDING 4th and 5th grade walkers - will be escorted by their teachers to the gymnasium for pickup.
- Teachers will remain with their classes until 2:20 pm. Anyone who can remain with their class longer would be most appreciated.
- School bus riders will be escorted to their respective buses by school staff for safe boarding.
- 4TH and 5th grade families may enter the building through the 4th & 5th grade entrances on Russell Place near the blue mailbox. “Enter Here” signs will be posted on the doors.
- Kindergarten – Third Grade families in the schoolyard may enter through the yard’s middle and corner doors. “Enter Here” flags will be posted by the designated doors.
- Parents will line up in an orderly fashion in the 1st Floor hallway. Please be patient as many caretakers will be lining up the hallways.
- Twenty (20-40) parents at a time will be permitted to enter the gymnasium to sign out their children.
- Families who are in possession of their children will exit through the doors at the back of the gym.
- Once the lightning and thunder have subsided, parents of walkers will receive an email and text message informing them that their children will be released to walk home as per usual.
